Today was our 15 year wedding anniversary! We got married in Roosendaal on a hot and sunny day on the 8th of July, 2010, together with family and friends from the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Finland, and the US. We moved in to our house in Breda just a few days before the wedding. Time has really flown by…

Elsa arrived on Sunday and has been helping us out in multiple ways — walking Gia, helping me with packing lists, and spending lots of time with the kids. She made us dinner tonight and then hung out with Alex and Isa while Chris and I had video calls with potential renters for our house in Breda. Such a big decision to make, and all based on a letter and a short chat.
Things are winding down at BUas – two more days on campus, and tomorrow will be focused on our 2025 graduates. Sijbren will give the presentation and I will support him at the table where students sign their diplomas. The perfect task division! We’ve been a good team all these years.
I’m still enjoying the afterglow of my goodbye party on July 3rd. What an amazing event that was. The party was catered by Kaatje Jans Vincent (great gift!!). Saskia and Sijbren gave a wonderful, heartfelt presentation full of photos and anecdotes. Saskia had a book made with personal messages from both colleagues, students, and alumni. I opened it at home and read through each and every page and had a proper cry. Such a beautiful keepsake!
I really feel blessed to have been able to work the past 9 years with such a lovely group of colleagues and students. We are moving on to an exciting new phase but will certainly miss the lovely people and good memories we are leaving behind!
